St. Charles New York — Supreme Kitchens
Friday, May 29th, 2009I had the pleasure of getting an introduction to the St. Charles New York showroom in NYC with St. Charles Principal Karen Williams. I wanted to learn more about St. Charles after seeing the firm’s spectacular kitchen in this year’s Kips Bay Showhouse (featuring light blue(!) my favorite color for interiors and so unusual for a kitchen). What struck me about St. Charles is the wide variety of styles the company can create – from stainless, uber modern to the more traditional, wood-heavy variety, and they all are a treat to look at. And of course, it was fun to poke around and open the perfect drawers and imagine a life where I had time to cook!

Internet 101: Decorati & Traditional Home at Stark
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009
Yesterday at the Stark Showroom for Spring Market at the D&D building in NY I had the amazing opportunity to interview Lauren Wiener, SVP of Interactive of Meredith Interactive (right). We discussed trends and useful tips for interior designers to leverage the internet and social networking. Our co-host was Traditional Home magazine (Publisher Debi Brandt pictured middle).
One useful tip from Lauren: don’t get overwhelmed, simply figure out how many hours a week you want to put towards marketing, save enough time for the things you have to do (such as updating your portfolio on your web site), and then engage in social media with the time remaining (Facebook, Twittr, Linked In, etc). I suggested that if you don’t have time to make a blog, at least start participating in the “blogosphere” by commenting on other blogs, like this one!
Here I am with Chad Stark, Ed Haleman, and John Stark, and then with Ann Maine, Editor in Chief of Tradtional Home.

Kyle Bunting Goes to Hunt
Tuesday, May 19th, 2009It was fun to celebrate wtih Decorati manufacturer partner Kyle Bunting (right) at Holly Hunt (with Al Oliver of Holly Hunt, left). Kyle’s rugs are now being featured in Holly Hunt. I have long been a fan of Kyle’s work. He can pretty much make you anything, as long as it’s hair on hide. Congrats to Kyle and the never ending growth of his business.
Tucker Chuckles
Tuesday, May 19th, 2009Decorati manufacturer partner Tucker Robbins chuckles as he shows me a new chaise at ICFF. See below to catch the bold end of the chaise… a clear extension of Tuckers organically influenced aesthetic. (more…)
Richard Schultz: What’s old is new again and hot for summer 2009
Tuesday, May 19th, 2009Peter Schultz, president of Decorati partner manufacturer Richard Schultz, showed me what’s new at ICFF. Here is standing among a new line of outdoor furniture based on an original design from the company years ago – one of the first chairs to be produced with fabric stretched across a frame. The tables and chairs come in a variety of heights. My favorite – the table for four at bar height. I always find dining up high a little more festive. Check back to the Richard Schultz page on Decorati, the company will be logging in to add these products very soon.
Psst… in case you haven’t heard, Robin Wilson is the new doyenne of stylish eco-friendly living
Tuesday, May 19th, 2009While in NYC I had the opportunity to swing by the Robin Wilson Home showroom. I knew about her interior design work and her eco-friendly kitchen cabinet line (hint, more on that to come soon on Decorati… see cabinet door above!), but what I had not realized was the depth of product Robin carries. While chatting, this down to earth design star showed me everything from bath towels to accessories, all made from recycled materials or eco-friendly processes (available at: http://www.theneststore.com ). She also educated me on the vast array of speaking engagements and other activities she gets invited to do generally because of her focus on eco-friendly design, while maintaining grade A projects like Bill Clinton’s office and a Kennedy home. As the importance of considering the environment in design continues to grow, I guarantee we all will be hearing more from Robin.
